ATEX Remote HMI panel for Acetic Acid Recovery System in Turkey

McKinCo Project Case Study

ATEX Remote HMI panel for Acetic Acid Recovery System in Turkey

McKinCo designed and built a remote HMI panel for a project in Turkey, to work alongside the existing Acetic Acid Recovery control panel already on site.

The HMI panel was to be located in a hazardous area so had to be certified for use in ATEX Zone 2. A special 316L stainless steel enclosure was manufactured by our ATEX enclosure supplier to house the equipment.

The panel consisted of a Siemens 15” TP1500 Comfort touchscreen HMI and associated parts. Communication with the existing panel was via an industrial ethernet link over single-mode glass fibre-optic cable. This required a suitable switch and fibre patch panel at both ends, with these items being retrofitted in the existing panel.

Once built, the panel was sent back to our ATEX supplier and vacuum tested before the ATEX certificate was issued prior to despatch.
